The Governor is the chief executive of the state whose function is to administer the laws of the state. One of the activities used to accomplish this function is advocating a position on specific issues that is expressed through speeches and addresses to various groups, and organizations, and at special events. This series consists of speeches, statements, and a few press releases given by Governor Albert P. Brewer. All of the presentations but one were delivered to organizations in the state of Alabama. In addition to the state legislature, Brewer regularly spoke to the Alabama Education Association, the Alabama Wildlife Federation, Associated Industries of Alabama, the Governor's Traffic Safety Conference, the National Guard Association, the Alabama Cleanup and Beautification Program, the Jaycees, and the State Chamber of Commerce. The governor also delivered addresses before numerous education groups, college and university commencement exercises and dedication ceremonies, and many other business, government, civic, and religious organizations. The topics on which he spoke include education, economic growth, business, industry, and health.
